The students in the workshop class were busy cutting crescent moons and sun centers from a large piece of roofing copper. As they gathered their pieces and headed off to the next process, Tom glanced at the scrap of copper left behind. Instantly, he realized there was a piece of sculpture laying before him. He went on to finish the class, and put the piece of copper away in a corner of the studio. Two months passed before Tom began work on the "found" sculpture. Always before, a new piece started with an idea, was first sketched then constructed. This piece was totally different, it had appeared on it's own waiting to be finished.
