Tom began his experience with metal as a farrier shoeing horses. He was fortunate to learn from a skilled craftsman who taught him to hand make every shoe. After fifteen years, the romance of crawling under horses was ending. He took the skills he had learned from shoeing horses and began making forged antique reproduction pieces.

In 1999, Tom received a commission from the Cincinnati Children's Hospital for a special candelabra. This was his first project requiring an original contemporary design. He twisted and turned slender rods of steel into a lovely tree capable of holding one hundred votive candles. Tom could not believe what had come from inside his head and heart. Tom exhibits his contemporary sculpture through juried art shows.

Tom and his family live on a small farm along the Kokosing River. His second passion is fly fishing. He walks in the quiet water as much as his schedule allows. Because of Tom's skill in the kitchen, delicious food and good wine are enjoyed by family and friends alike. Tom embraces everyday as a new adventure to be thoroughly explored and enjoyed.
